In connection to the recent article about our family trip to Baguio, I decided to add these pictures which would now be all about flowers. In my (ehem) recent journey through adolescence, I have learned that flowers have this mysterious effect on females. Even if they are about to gun you down and chase you to hell because you forgot to text them last night because you were too drunk errr… in an emergency, all you’d need to do is to show up the next day with some of these buggers.
These flowers are not really the romantic type though because I just took pictures around the house that we rented. Luckily for me no ghosts showed up in the pictures but that topic might be a good theme for my next photo journey.

Luis “Louie” Beltran is one of the pinnacles of Filipino Broadcasting. He was one of the most harhitting journalists on print and on TV during his time. Not afraid of expressing himself even though faced with adversities, he was arrested and detained in Camp Crame because of his expose’s. He gained fame and notoriety when President Cory Aquino filed a libel case against him because he wrote in one of his articles that the late President “hid under her bed” during the coup d’ etat attempt in 1987. The late President even invited press into her bedroom to show that she can’t possibly hide under her “box” type bed.

Recently, I went to Baguio with my family. My elder sister brought her DSLR with us to capture the happy memories (cheesy!). When we got there, I got to try out the Macro Mode of her DSLR. At first I took pictures of the greenery around us but I found taking pictures of our small insect friends a lot more interesting. I’m sharing some of the more interesting shots that I took while testing Macro Mode out.

After taking a few shots, i finally made the lens focus on the fly clearly. I therefore conclude that what I’m doing is FUN!

This one I had to shoot rapidly because he was a really busy bee and didn’t want to stay put for a shot. Just like Jollibee in a kid’s party dancing “Nobody”.

Sometimes we find words of wisdom in the most unusual places. Bumper stickers, tv ads, billboards, even food labels oftentimes contain amazing strings of thought. What’s surprising is the abundance of these inspiring quotes from unexpected sources. Case in point: Magic: The Gathering. If you have no idea what it is, it’s a card game developed by a Math professor way back in ‘93. Others may know the game from walking in the mall, where hordes of young men can be seen clutching black binders, turning cards sideways, and knocking on the table. If you still don’t know what the heck I’m talking about, click here.

I was stumbling the other day and found this really interesting (puzzle like)sculpture on evilmadscientist called the “frabjous”. This sculpture was created by Geometric sculptor George W. Hart.

At first glance of the page, I just looked at it and said: “ok interesting , next site” and clicked the thumbs up on my stumble toolbar without even reading it. Days after, I went back to this site and found out that the Frabjous could be created with 30 pieces of just one pattern. I was in a bit of a mood for a challenge that night, and this sculpture seemed like it had a reasonable degree of difficulty to solve so I took a go. So I downloaded the pdf file from George Hart’s site, printed the 1 piece on paper and duplicated 30 pcs on box cardboard. After 6 hours(turns out it was a pretty good challenge after all), i had my first Frabjous:

In line with Halloween, we’ve decided to list the top Filipino Mythical Creatures that we have here in the Philippines. Just a brief background, the Filipino culture is deeply rooted with fascination of the supernatural.
1. Aswang – is a Filipino Mythical Creature term that is a generic term applied to other Mythical Creatures such as Shapeshifters, Monsters, Witches and Creatures of Nature. Whey Aswang is mentioned, the most common picture that will enter your head is that of the manananggal. This is generally an old lady whose body splits into 2 parts at the stroke of midnight. The lower half (waist down) would stay at home and the upper half (waist up) would grow wings, fly and hunt for a victim to eat.

One day while doing the two in the bathroom, you suddenly arrive at a moment of epiphany. You figured out a way to wipe out all the pollution on earth. You have the blueprint of the prototype completely mapped out in your head . You create the prototype and and find out that all the materials can be found in the scrapyard. You are surprised at how cheap it is to create. You think to yourself, if I make this a business, Ill be rich!! One problem though, If you put up a store it would be too darn expensive. And you also don’t want to sell your idea to a big company. At this point, you think to yourself: what about starting an online business?

In the spirit of the upcoming Halloween 2009, we talk about one of the most famous roads that we have in the Philippines: Balete Drive.
Balete Drive is a street located in New Manila, Quezon City, Philippines. It got its’ name from the numerous Balete Trees (Scientific name: Ficus stipulosa) that populate the road which local Folklore says that Balete Trees attract Spirits and Paranormal beings.
One of the most famous ghost stories that have been surrounding Balete Drive since the 1950’s is the story of a White Lady who suddenly appears in the backseat of your car while travelling this road. It is advised that if you are traversing Balete Drive to keep your backseat full or don’t look into the rear-view mirror unless you want to see the ghost of a lady wearing a white night gown, has long hair and has no face in your back seat.

I’ve been a very big fan of the American Chopper reality show even before it’s episodes where available on my cable service. Even before I got to watch my first episode, a lot of people were already wearing OCC merchandise. I would be able to watch shows of the infamous OCC shop on youtube or from downloaded videos in my friend’s house. I remember being astonished by how they could start with what seemed like just scraps of metal, a bunch of tubing, a V-Twin engine, and transform those materials to a precisely engineered chopper. And don’t forget how awesome looking these bikes were.

I recently had a conversation with a friend where we talked about Filipina actresses we would like to go out with and possibly do more than go out with(if you know what I mean). A handful came to my mind but it didn’t take me too much thinking to figure out who my top pick was. Enthusiastically , I said, “si Rhian Ramos pre”.
We all know Rhian Ramos from your favorite shows such as Captain Barbell, Stairway To Heaven, Zorro and a lot more. I might say that I see her as a very down to earth girl with what she portrays when acting. Someone who knows her might say I’m wrong, but I guess that would impress me more(this would mean that she acts very well). She got 1 gazillion hot chick points when I found out she’s a rock chick whith good taste in music ( Up Dharma Down, Radioactive Sago to name a few)She also has very effortless grace about her. And of course, she’s so darn sexy.
